So.
WHY DO I GO TO THE WOODS?
HOW DOES CONNECTING WITH NATURE REVIVE MY SPIRIT?
the light and warmth of the sun
soothes my nervous system and brings emotional regulation
the breath of the wind across my face
and through my hair
reminds me to breathe deeply
bare toes upon the earth reminds me that i am held… always .
… supported by something greater than myself .
all that is touched upon…
fingers, toes, entire body
wrapped around a tree or brushing against
the most delicate moss
… is connection.
a tactile experience
of the web of life
the listening…
the listening…
for birdsong… tiny teeth nibbling
in the meadow… scurrying scampering
and slithering…
stretches attention and focus

the crackling warmth of fire
dances its reminder
that change is a part of life
shifting and transforming
… the ashes that remain are fuel
for that which is yet to come
fragrances and smells that arise
as the seasons change…
some come but once a year…
marking special times and memories
I bring my troubles to the trees…
for they speak a language beyond words.
I am free to feel… and be heard .
… What is delicious?
… what is dangerous?
the tastes that nourish our bodies…
wild and free… sweet and savory
all of this… honored
through song and gratitude
i bring my troubles to the trees…
for they speak a language beyond words
i am free to feel…
and be heard .
every word… every breath…
is connection to that which gives
me life…
how can i not
feel relief?
Listen…
… listen closely for the song of the forest.
